Sometimes the city seems to fade. The air is still the same - humid, sticky, with the smell of coffee and gasoline, but it seems like there's less sound, less light in it. Just because someone isn't waiting for you around the corner anymore. And even if a stranger's congratulations are flashing on your phone, where your name isn't mentioned, it still echoes inside you quietly: "It could have been different once." There's a strange comfort in the fact that pain makes you feel alive. What exactly grows out of sadness is understanding - not everything that seems like a loss is actually a negative. Sometimes letting go is the only way to remain human. Even if the heart is still smoldering a little from what was left unsaid.
