Uno squillo

The phone went silent, and then suddenly a short "beep," like a shot from the past. Everything is different now: friends have been lost, old dreams burned along with those pages that seemed eternal. But if someone calls, my legs carry me thru the smoke, money, noise, and constant lack of sleep. In every "yes, everything's fine," you can hear a tired "I don't know," because even at the top, where success shines and Moncler crunches, one voice is still missing. The soundtrack of a person who climbed out of the mud but still carries its imprint on their sneakers. Loud, confident, with a hint of sadness and a touch of madness, like a nite where music booms, but inside it's still too quiet.
