Three o'clock in the morning can be particularly cruel. It seems like they're only a couple of blocks apart, but it feels like an entire universe has grown between them. Dancing in clubs, cigarette smoke on strangers' rooftops, and strangers' hands in a company that once belonged to “us.” It's funny that even space seems closer than the one who was once the closest person to you.
The words convey not only jealousy, but also that strange feeling when the past is still tugging at your sleeve, and the present has long since run ahead. In my head, SOS; on my phone, unfinished messages; in my heart, emptiness and music that is too loud. And only the moon becomes the sole witness to how something invisible but very real is breaking.
