Here, love is compared to a Sunday “hallelujah,” to red clay underfoot, and to a river whose waters know all the secrets of childhood. In every note there is a longing for home and the certainty that even thousands of miles away, the heart will still land where the cardinal sings on the porch and the familiar accent lingers.
