Cole's Response

2:082025-05-22

Description

At first, everything is slow. It's like walking along the shore. Sand under your feet, wind blowing. Nothing foreshadows anything - and then suddenly: gravel, stickiness, a voice that doesn't scream but seems to speak from within. And it won't let go. This track doesn't have the usual verses about “everything will be fine.” Here, it's about wanting to break free, but not being able to breathe. When freedom isn't about “going out into the field,” but simply not getting stuck inside yourself. When every “cut,” “tear,” “let it bleed” sounds frightening... but liberating. Like breaking away from something rotten that has long pretended to be part of your body. It's heavy. It's dark. But perhaps it's honest.

Lyrics and translation

Original

It doesn't matter though, does it?
It starts off slow though
you can't keep up.
Feel your feet sink to the ground.
It wants you here
and it won't let you go.
Pull you deeper and deeper
until you can't be found.
Where do I want to be?
Either way, you'll be there with me.
I don't think that I could see.
Oh, the seeds are growing inside.
I want to be free.
If I crawl out and leave you hollow,
I carry nothing but the breath I borrow.
And it hurts.
It won't end until you say it short.
It's me.
Cuck my eyes.
Cut my hair.
Break my teeth till it's fair.
Let it bleed.
Let it drive.
Let it be.
It won't get easier — that's what I think.
Suppose the gravel rumble beneath the leathers.
Turn it could cling to scatter.
Scatter of thy I do.
Yeah.
