The cold October reminds us again that time can be cruel. Everything around seemed to be on pause - even the rain doesn't stop, as if on purpose, just to wash away old wounds. The sweater still holds other people's tears and the scent of the past, and that "favorite" thing keeps running thru my head - false, halting, but all the more honest for it. It seems no one has gone anywhere - neither out of the room nor out of the memories. We've just learned to live in them more quietly, without loud words and with notifications turned off. Sometimes my hand still reaches out to check if someone has written... But instead, you find an old thing, smile crookedly, and think, "Yes, it's cold in October." But maybe it's for the best.
