Description

Fame is a wonderful thing. While it lasts, it seems as if the world is warmed by your light. But then it turns out that spotlights only give off heat while they are on, and even the loudest applause quickly turns into ringing in your ears. This song is not about falling, but about purification. When you set your past on fire, not out of malice, but to finally see where the stage ends and life begins. There is a lot of ashes, a little truth, and the feeling that for the first time you are breathing not for the show, but for yourself. Sometimes, in order to become free, you have to burn everything that used to shine. Even if it used to be called a dream.

Lyrics and translation

Original

It was good to be there in the bright lights, oh

But I lost good friends under the spotlight, oh

Imagine if everybody knew your name

But they had nothing nice to say, nothing nice to say

It was good to be living up the high life, oh

But the come down's harder in the headlines, oh

Everybody tells you, you should play the game

But there is only you to play, there is only you to play

But I tried

I set fire to the glory

I set fire to the dream

I set fire to the only thing

That led me from the streets

Don't tell me it's over, 'cause I don't want to believe

'Cause now I've opened my eyes and I have found a way to breathe

The truth sets me free

I broke my back to make a break through, oh

I lost my mind, look what it came to, oh

I had to lose it all so I could understand, oh

I was just a boy in the shadow of a man

I set fire to the glory

I set fire to the dream

I set fire to the only thing

That led me from the streets

Don't tell me it's over, 'cause I don't want to believe

'Cause now I've opened my eyes and I have found a way to breathe

The truth sets me free

Oh, the truth sets me free

I set fire to the glory

I set fire to the dream

I set fire to the only thing

That led me from the streets

Don't tell me it's over, 'cause I don't want to believe

'Cause now I've opened my eyes and I have found a way to breathe

The truth sets me free, oh sets me free

Oh, the truth sets me, it sets me free

Oh, the truth sets me free

Oh, sets me free

Oh, the truth sets me

Oh, sets me, oh, it sets me free, yeah
