You seem like a smart person, with self-irony and awareness, but as soon as someone smiles a little warmer at you, you put everything on the line: money, time, self-control. And let the glass spine crack, but at least your heart beats louder.

There is a lot of self-aware drama in this song: everything breaks beautifully, pain turns into a soundtrack, and self-irony saves you from complete collapse. It feels like you're listening to someone who knows they're going to lose, but plays anyway - simply because they can't do otherwise. And there's something ridiculously alive about that.
