Train

At first, the sounds seem unbearable - as if the tracks run right through the bedroom. Every morning, every night: the screeching, the rumbling, the rhythm of someone else's life outside the window. But time passes, and the iron melts into habit. The pictures on the walls, the road to the store, the familiar turns and traffic lights - and suddenly the city that used to annoy you begins to feel like home. Even the noise of the train disappears, not because it's gone, but because it's become part of the background. And if suddenly everything goes quiet, you'll miss it a little.
