The Moment

It's as if a tap of memories has been turned on: thoughts, worries, laughter, and fatigue flow out, all mixed together. It hurts a little that any “now” does not last long, but at least it is real. These lines contain a strange mixture of tenderness and confusion, when you don't know if you've done enough, but you stay anyway. And while the lights are still on, you just want to hold on, listen, and remember every second, even if it melts away faster than you can breathe.
