Description

As soon as you hear the first lines, you can smell the sea. The same sea that both lulls you to sleep and threatens to wipe everything away. But perhaps that is what happiness is: building a sandcastle, knowing full well that it will not survive the tide. The joy is in the fact that you are not building it alone. The foam crashes against the walls, the years slip away, children run through the corridors, and in your hands is someone else's palm that you don't want to let go of. It's a little naive, touchingly funny, and therefore especially precious.

Lyrics and translation

Original

Two hundred years from now will anybody think about
What happened in these walls, me or you, who built this house?
For now our children are playing down the hall
Every moment that we keep is worth its weight in gold
A foolish man will close his eyes and wake up when he’s old
But I just want to be a fool for you
After all these years, years are gone
After all is said and done
I feel so lucky, lucky you’re the one
To help me build my little castle in the sand
This little castle, our little castle in the sand
Life is like the tide, keeps going out and coming in
So find somebody that you love and then just grab their hand
And now, baby hold on as tight as you can
After all these years, years are gone
After all is said and done
I feel so lucky, lucky you’re the one
To help me build my little castle in the sand
This little castle, our little castle in the sand
The waves keep on crashing all around us baby
I guess it’s just what love demands
We’ve both been dreaming of forever lately
But ain’t it right here where we stand?
In this little castle, our little castle in the sand
In this little castle, my little castle in the sand
