Description
Memories smell like jeans from Urban Outfitters and dreams recorded on purple discs. Back then, the future seemed like a lottery; now, it seems like a long wait, where the hands of the clock tick louder than the applause. But in every line, you can hear the stubborn refrain, “the bet on yourself is still in play.” Between tears and the sparkle of diamonds, faith is born: if our ancestors are watching from above, let them see not fatigue, but light breaking through the doubts. Music becomes a promise - to ourselves and to them - that better days are not a mirage, but simply delayed on their way.

Original
I remember working in that urban outfitters clocking in just folding up jeans
Hanging out in Memphis tryna be a star
4 songs on a purple CD
Ooo baby had them big dreams
I placed the bet on me
Folks laughed
I tell you gone see
Way back , I’m talking Old Navy
I thought I’d hit the lottery
But now a days I just wanna get my shine
They say, all things work out in due time
But I’m overdue watching clocks tik tok
And I’m still tryna believe in those
Hook

But like your Grandma Cora used to say
Betta Daze, Better Daze are coming
Verse II
I want my ancestors looking like hey girl
You’re living out our dreams you’ve seen the whole world
For all the pain we lived , you made it worth it
You seen the happy end , you made us proud , proud kid
Pre Hook
If pressure makes diamonds
These tears must be mining
Still asking where mine is , when I’m looking for those
