DannyLux (real name – Daniel Balderrama Espinoza) is a young Latin American composer, born on March 12, 2004, in Palm Springs, California. The artist rose to fame thanks to his unique sound, blending regional Mexican music, urban influences, and alternative sierreño. His biography is remarkably organic: born into a family of immigrants from Mexicali, Daniel began studying music at the age of six when his father brought home an old abandoned guitar. At seven, his mother enrolled him in a church choir, marking the start of his vocal and instrumental development. During his teenage years, he became passionate about soccer and even came up with the stage name “Danny Luxury,” later shortened to DannyLux after he was expelled from his school’s soccer team for poor grades. In 2020, at age 16, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he began sharing covers on TikTok, where he caught the attention of members of Eslabón Armado, who helped him achieve later success. As for his discography and key releases, his career includes: debut album Las Dos Caras Del Amor (2021); EPs Love 3 (2021) and Limerencia (2022); second album Perdido En Ti (2022), which earned him a No. 1 debut on Apple Music Top Latin Albums; third studio album DLUX (August 2023) with 17 tracks and guest appearances from Eslabón Armado, Cuco, and others, released under VPS Music and Warner Music Latina, followed by its deluxe edition EVOLUXION (March 2024). In May 2025, his fourth studio album Leyenda was released, featuring 19 tracks and collaborations with Jasiel Núñez, Yng Naz, and Juanchito. Among his singles, the standout hit “Jugaste y sufrí” with Eslabón Armado (2020) reached No. 3 on Hot Latin Songs and entered the Billboard Hot 100; other notable tracks include “Mi otra mitad,” “Tristeza y traición” (3× Platinum), “House of Lux” (Platinum), and more. In terms of achievements and awards, he reached No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Songwriters & Producers chart with “Jugaste y sufrí,” holding the spot for three weeks; opened Coldplay’s concerts in Mexico (2022); performed at Coachella (2023), after which he was presented with the keys to his hometown; was included in Billboard’s 21 Under 21 and Variety’s Young Hollywood list (2023); became the first Música Mexicana artist to perform on A COLORS SHOW and NPR’s Tiny Desk; his album EVOLUXION was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album, while Leyenda was named one of the Best Latin Albums of 2025 by Billboard.
